I Don’t Know How I Have Never Heard of DrownMili Before

The YouTube algorithm works in mysterious ways. Due to the mysterious algorithm, I recently stumbled upon DrownMili's "On The Radar Freestyle," leaving me thoroughly impressed. What caught my attention during the freestyle was his ability to seamlessly switch between rapping and an almost punk-style screaming delivery.

"The pastor's like, 'What is your worth?’ He's preaching and telling you to hop in the hearse.'"

After hearing this, I knew I had to delve into his discography, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by what I discovered.

Hailing from Amityville, New York, DrownMili masterfully fuses alternative rock, punk, and hip-hop, creating a sound that I've never experienced before.

What immediately struck me while exploring his discography was his fearlessness in taking creative risks. This is evident in the majority of his songs, but one track that particularly caught my attention was "War Outside" from his recent EP, "THERMAL USA." In this song, the beat is softer and slower compared to the usual brash and upbeat punk rock beats. However, it features a pulsing snare that drives the song. Combined with DrownMili's deliberate and chant-like delivery, it immerses you in a trance, evoking the feeling of being in a 70s film where the protagonist fights to overthrow the government and bring about change.

As I progressed through his recent EP, "Thermal USA," I found myself reaching the final track, "Moments," and I can only describe it as mind-blowing. DrownMili's versatility as an artist shines in this song, where he showcases his singing ability. It's a beautiful piece that reminds me of some of XXXTENTACION’'s more melodic works. Reflecting on the other songs in the project and then considering the freestyle he performed for "On The Radar," I'm at a loss for words to describe how intricate and organic his artistry truly is.

I'm incredibly impressed with DrownMili, and tracks like "Moments" and "War Outside" highlight his unique blend of sounds, setting him apart in the hip-hop landscape. I can't wait to see what DrownMili has in store for the future. Be sure to check out his "On The Radar Freestyle" and explore his discography below!
