You’re In Trouble : Quisi Laflare

You're in trouble!! When I hear those words at the beginning of a track, I know that I'm in for a great day! Quisi does it again. I haven't really heard any songs of his that I haven't liked. Every song that Quisi drops is a lot of fun, upbeat, and just exudes good energy.

When I heard “King Sized,” I was immediately floating, like the vibe that the song put me in had me on Cloud 9. I felt as if I were in a movie. I heard this song while I was brushing my teeth, and I knew from that moment I was going to have an amazing day.

Something I find very impressive about Quisi is that he makes a lot of his own beats, and it really shows in the way that he flows in the track. You can tell when an artist produces their own music because they present a different energy rather than just rapping on a beat. Not saying that one is better than the other, but you can definitely notice a difference. When I listen to this, it sounds very comfortable. It's not like he's trying to ride a beat or get on tempo; he's just flowing. It's almost an extension of his personality in this song, and all the musical energy and good vibes are flowing through him, coming out in his track.

I don't understand why this works for me, but something that I thought was really cool throughout the song was how he started it off, bringing the energy. The expression in the way that he was saying, uh, just got me super lit. One of the things I noticed about Quisi’s flow is that it is very similar to the way Chance The Rapper flows on a beat. It has a unique bounce to it that fits Quisi’s music well.

Quisi also dropped “Respectations” along with ‘King Sized” this week. This beat was a little slower than the beat on “King Sized,” but that did not take away from the energy presented on this track as well. On this track, he was talking his stuff. I appreciate the euphoric feeling the song put me in, but there was just something about the subject matter and how he was almost reflecting on his past experience with trying to save an unfaithful woman. It was like he was riding the beat, and I have never heard a type of song like this before, honestly.

I'm glad I did. I feel like nobody makes music like this, and that is what makes Quisi so unique and such an amazing artist. He's making the type of songs and music that nobody else does, and the fact that he makes his own beats too just shows you the creative mastermind that he really is. It's impressive to see it all together; it's a body of art, and I'm just happy that I got to listen to it.

If you guys have some free time throughout your day and want to listen to some good music, check out both “King Sized” and “Respectations.” The links for the songs are down below!
