Let’s Do A March Madness Tournament of Artists!

Long Island is home to many talented artists of various styles and genres. There have been numerous greats to come out of the Island, including some members of Wu-Tang, pop stars, and artists who are making significant strides, such as Zombie. One significant initiative I propose to unify the community is to determine the best artist currently active. This could encompass any genre or style of music. The sole requirements would be that they are independent and not affiliated with any label; while they may have management, they should lack any label affiliation.

I suggest organizing a contest to engage all the artists with each other. We could begin by hosting weekly battles, with articles featuring two artists posted for viewers to decide who they believe is the superior artist. We could even adopt a tournament-style format, akin to March Madness, within the Long Island underground scene. To gather names for participation, I encourage everyone to comment on our Instagram posts with the artists they would like to see in this competition. By the end of next week, we can construct a bracket-style lineup.

I'm eager to hear everyone's opinions on who they believe the best artist on Long Island is currently and why. If there is sufficient interest, I propose offering a prize to the winning artist. While the specifics of the prize are yet to be determined, we can brainstorm ideas together. Please share your thoughts on this initiative; I believe it would be a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together. Below, I'll list some of my favorite artists currently, though not all of them may make it into the bracket. These are just some initial thoughts.
